Patrick laughed he remembered the memory as if it happened yesterday. Patrick had remembered forced Kayla out of the kitchen, he and Kayla’s Gran had made the mess well mostly Patrick had made the mess so they cleaned it up. Memories like this one lasted forever. Patrick always loved remembering the memoires that Kayla and him shared together after being away from each other for so long Patrick couldn’t believe that he was now standing before her and speaking to him again. Patrick was glad that they had agreed about cooking spaghetti bolognaise. One thing that Kayla’s Gran had taught Patrick about spaghetti bolognaise was that it could be great the day after. Patrick loved spaghetti bolognaise on toast with a couple of fried eggs.
“I could never get that right, the spaghetti always fell of my spoon, so I deiced that from then on I should just use my fork even if the sauce went all over my face. That’s what the bathroom is used for when you had sauce all over you.” Patrick laughed. Patrick and Kayla walked towards the alcohol shop. Patrick walked in walked over to where the vodka was kept. Patrick smiled when Kayla when she found the vodka for him, he listened to her next comment. “I have rum, bourbon beer. Soft drink mainly coke, fanta and lift.” Patrick explained to Kayla. “Yeah I remember you telling me that one afternoon.” Patrick replied. “Kayla I would like to visit you’re Gran’s grave site. Since I didn’t go to the funeral for obvious reasons.” Patrick explained to her.

"I actually haven't gone to Gran's grave since she died. There wasn't a funeral...there isn't anyone who remembers Gran anymore. Only us and Raven, but he had to take care of me because of my injury. I know where her grave is...I just haven't been able to go see her. She gave me all the inheritance of hers and mom and dad's. I'm the last of the Summers and my name won't be around in my family at some point. Will you come with me some time to her grave?" Kayla asked. She really wanted to go to her Gran's grave with Patrick. And she wanted to show her Gran that she was okay, that they were okay. "I'm sure she's watching us, laughing at us, and how we are now." Kayla said as she started to walk to the cash register. Kayla really wanted to go to her Gran's grave site. She was buried where Kayla's parents were. Kayla brought the cart and Patrick and started to put the groceries on the conveyor so that they could pay for their stuff.
Kayla smiled when Patrick said that he had bourbon, beer and rum for alcohol. And then coke, fanta and lift. Personally Kayla wanted a bit of alcohol but she wanted to mask the taste a bit. Kayla heard that coke and rum was a good mix. "I think I'll take a coke and rum thank you very much. If I'm gonna have alcohol at your place I want to try and hold my liquor like the rest of my family. You remember when Gran, as old as she was, got so drunk my parents had to tell us to get out of the living room before something happened. Turns out Gran got a bit wild. And then she broke down crying because Gramps." Kayla said as she watched the lady scan the food. "She's probably happy...being up there with him."

Patrick wanted to go visit Kayla’s Gran’s grave the women had given Patrick so much in her life and Patrick never got to be there for Kayla or her. Patrick hated himself for moving away he could have done so much for the two. Patrick had wondered if things would be different if he had stayed, maybe he would’ve never been this person a rebel and an outlaw of town. All these things were troubling Patrick now he felt sorry for Kayla being the last of her family but she wasn’t alone anymore she had him to look after her and that’s what mattered well it’s what Patrick thought of anyway. Patrick listened to Kayla as she spoke to him. “Kayla I will, we can go now if you like that’s if you don’t mind riding on the back of a Harley Davidson.” Patrick explained to Kayla.
“Kayla you’re not alone anymore and you’re not the last. I say that because we’re family and I’ll protect you from anything you know that right? We may have been separated for all these years but fate had brought us back together.” Patrick added to Kayla. Patrick would do anything that Kayla had asked him to do. Patrick would like to visit her Gran’s grave she meant everything to him. Patrick’s own grandparents died when Patrick was two, Kayla knew this so Kayla’s Gran had been like his own grandmother. “So how about it? We can drop my grocery’s at my place first then drive to you’re Gran’s grave and visit her now. I bet she would love that.” Patrick explained.

"I'm sure she would love that. I would love that Patrick. And I don't mind riding on the back of your Harley, just as long as I can borrow a helmet and hold onto your while you drive. You know the cemetery by the lake. The really nice one that's really expensive. Gran wrote in her will where she wanted to be buried." Kayla said as she took the groceries and put them in plastic bags. Kayla carried them as she waited for Patrick to pay for the groceries. Kayla was glad to have Patrick back in her life. It meant that things would be better from now on. Kayla started rocking back and forth on her heels waiting. Normally Kayla was patient but she couldn't help but be excited. She was going to be seeing her Gran after her death and she was going to be having dinner with Patrick. Of course she couldn't wait, seeing as she was happy to spend lots of time with Patrick again.
Kayla waited impatiently as she watched Patrick. Then she let her mind drift off to her ugly past and then allowed it to burn away all her bad memories. With Patrick back in her life everything would be better. It was going to be all right now. Kayla smiled at the thought of being with Patrick tonight. After all, she had Raven as a master and no real friends. So a night with her best friend was something she had waited for, for a long time.

Patrick looked back at Kayla as he waited for an answer from her. Patrick listened to Kayla’s reply to his question. “Sure I got a spare helmet in the back. I know it I remember you daring me to walk through it once at night when we were ten. Remember?” Patrick replied. Patrick remembered that he dragged Kayla with him into the cemetery, there was some rumor back then that the place was haunted and Kayla dared him to go in at night which Patrick did well mostly anyway. Patrick watched as Kayla grabbed the groceries and placed them into plastic bags.
Patrick was glad that he would be spending some time with Kayla tonight, seeing her again brought all his feelings back he did love her very much and hated everything that happened to Kayla but everything was going to be alright from now on he was going to look after her. Patrick walked over towards his bike and turned back to Kayla, taking the plastic bags from her hands Patrick placed them in the back compartment, he grabbed a second helmet and handed it to Kayla. “We’ll head to my place first and unload the groceries we don’t want them going off do we.” Patrick replied.
Patrick climbed onto his bike and turned the engine on, he waited till Kayla got on the back. Patrick went slow at first as he went down the road, turning into another corner Patrick roared down the street towards his apartment. It didn’t take him long to reach his apartment. “My place is on the ninth floor, room 18.” Patrick explained as he took out the groceries from the back compartment of his bike. Patrick then guided Kayla up the flight of stairs and down the hallway to his apartment. Opening the door Patrick walked in and walked over to the kitchen.

"How could I forget, I was clinging onto you so much while we were walking. I didn't like it cause dad had told me scary stories about the cemetery like the rumor we heard." Kayla said with a soft smile. She could never forget all the trouble Patrick put her through by dragging her with him. It was in a way a scary adventure. But it had been a long time ago, well eight years but it would never leave her mind. Kayla took the groceries and followed Patrick out of the mall. Kayla followed Patrick to his bike as she carried the groceries. When they got to his bike, Patrick too the groceries and placed them in the back compartment. She took the helmet and put in over her head, strapping it on tightly. After Patrick got on, Kayla got on behind him, her arms wrapped around his waist for support.
It didn't take them long to reach Patrick's apartment. Kayla got off the bike but before she could get the groceries, Patrick got them and started walking toward his apartment. Kayla followed behind him as they walked up the flight of stair up to the ninth floor. His room was number 18. Kayla followed inside and looked around. It was a nice place, spacious. there was a kitchen, a bathroom, a small living area and a bedroom. Kayla walked into the kitchen and helped Patrick unload the food. "Thanks Patrick, for inviting me for dinner." Kayla said.

Patrick began to place the groceries away in their correct place. Patrick laughed at Kayla’s comment about the graveyard prank. Patrick remembered that day like it happened yesterday even though it was eight years ago but still he loved those kind of memories. “I remember that he told me that zombies lived there though I knew that he was joking around but a part of me wanted to go see if there was really zombies living in the graveyard. You dad had a sense of humor, it’s no wonder that my dad and yours got on so well. Both of them loved pulling pranks on us.” Patrick replied back laughing. Patrick finished packing away the groceries and turned back to Kayla.
“It’s no problem at all Kayla I’m just glad that we both came to the mall at the exact time and we got the chance to meet up after all these years apart.” Patrick to her smiling. “Alright now to the graveyard and if we have to fight killer zombies then so be it.” Patrick laughed as he grabbed his torch, it would be stupid if he didn’t bring one along with him. Patrick handed Kayla another torch so she could use as well. Patrick walked out of his apartment and locked the door after Kayla walked out too. It didn’t take him long to reach his bike. Climbing on he waited for Kayla to climb on before he drove down towards the lake. Patrick parked the bike and climbed off he looked around before turning to Kayla. “Ready?” Patrick asked her.

Kayla smiled at Patrick's joke. He reminded her so much of her father and how much she missed her father and him. Kayla giggled remembering the zombie prank. She had screamed so loud that it was embarrassing. Kayla looked around as Patrick put the groceries away. She was really glad to have been able to meet up with Patrick. "Gran always said that there were no such things as coincidences." Kayla said. She had believed that for a long time because her Gran had taught her that and so did her parents. Kayla smiled as she took the torch. "You do the fighting I'll do the screaming," Kayla joked. "I think this time I can help fight them off with you though." Kayla added as she followed Patrick out of the apartment and walked to the bike. She again sat behind Patrick and held on as her drove to the cemetery.
Kayla got off and took the flashlight. She walked in first because she knew where her Gran's tombstone was from a map of the place, the people who took care of the cemetery gave her. Kayla followed the map watching carefully as the sun started to set in the background. Kayla made it to the tombstone and kneeled down at it. She pulled her locket from under her shirt. "Hey Gran. I'm really sorry that you didn't get to see me after Raven saved me. Well...you could guess who came with me tonight. Funny how things turned out, well Patrick wanted to come see you too. I'm really happy to keep our family heirloom. Thank you a lot Gran, I'll miss you." Kayla said as she prayed for her Gran.

Patrick had never forgotten about that zombie prank he had been played a fool on that one though it was pretty funny when Kayla’s dad had found out that he actually went out to the graveyard to find out if zombies actually were real or not though over the years Patrick had found out that zombies were nothing more than a myth created by Hollywood for their movies to scare people well it scared Patrick first. Patrick would love nothing more than to be able to time travel back to those days where everything was so perfect but he knew that nothing good like this ever last he knew that quiet well. “Yeah I remember her saying that often.” Patrick replied to Kayla. Patrick laughed at Kayla’s comment about fighting of zombies.
“So you’ll be the damsel in distress for me to save then?” Patrick teased. The ride to the lake didn’t take Patrick long he remembered being out here last week having a biker party if he had known that Kayla’s Gran was buried here in the cemetery he would have gone and visited it himself but what was done was done and now he was going to visit Kayla’s Gran. Patrick turned on his flashlight and shone it around, he really hopped that they were indeed alone. Patrick followed Kayla to the tombstone he got a bit nervous he still hated going to these places. “Gran I’m back. Don’t worry I’m not leaving Kayla again.” Patrick explained. Patrick always called Kayla’s Gran, Gran.

Kayla watched as Patrick spoke to her Gran. I should have bought some flowers for Gran before coming here. Well, I'm sure she's fine with just me and Patrick being here. Kayla smiled softly as Patrick told her Gran that he wouldn't be leaving her again. However, Kayla felt that being here was almost a bad omen. Especially at night. Kayla heard a rustle in the bushes. She flashed her light into the bushes as fearlessly as she could and something continued to rustle as it was coming closer to her. Kayla stepped back afraid before something jumped out at her and she flung herself onto Patrick with a loud scream. Her entire body screamed fear and she was shaking, holding onto Patrick until she opened her eyes. A little kitten had come from the bushes and it had started purring at Kayla. Now she was embarrassed. She moved away from Patrick blushing bright red. "Um...sorry about that." Kayla said. She looked at the kitten and started to pet it. Kayla picked up the kitten and held her gently. "You scared me you little thing." Kayla said as she looked to Patrick.
She wondered what he was saying to her Gran, but she would respect him and his personal conversations with her Gran and not ask him about it. Kayla pet the little kitten until it's mom had come and she set the kitten down to go off with its mom. Kayla looked to Patrick. "You ready to go?" she asked.

Patrick was kneeling down, he should’ve been here for Kayla’s Gran, Kayla he hated himself for what Kayla had gone through. Patrick looked back at Kayla’s Gran’s tombstone he trailed his fingers over the top, he then trailed his fingers over the words that were written on it he wished he was there then things would be different he would have bought Kayla and then freed her right away this wasn’t the life that he wanted for her it was a life that was decided by the system though he knew that his slaves probably hated him for buying them and he used them for sex every now and again but so far nothing like what Kayla had gone through but with Patrick anything is possible and when he’s drunk Patrick is a completely different person.
Suddenly he felt Kayla flung herself onto him and let out a loud scream. Patrick turned towards the bushes and stood in a karate ready position. “What’s wrong Kayla?” Patrick scanned around his first though were zombies but they were a myth. Right? Suddenly Patrick saw the bushes move he prepared himself to strike at whatever was behind them until a kitten came out from the bushes. Patrick sighed and turned towards Kayla. “You scared the hell out of me I thought zombies were attacking us.” Patrick said before bursting in laughter. Patrick wrapped his arm around Kayla and pulled her into a hug. “Yeah I’m ready if you are we can stay longer if you want to.” Patrick explained.

"I'm ready to go and have a nice dinner with you Patrick," Kayla said with a smile as she hugged Patrick back. She walked out of the cemetery and thought about how nice it would be now. She had been bought as a means of protection from others and then she got back with Patrick which made her so happy. Kayla was glad things were turning out better, but...not all of it was good. Her Gran had gotten really ill and she didn't survive, but at least she died peacefully, her dying wish was for her granddaughter's safety. Kayla breathed in the cold air as she looked to all the other tombstones. She'd have to go to her parents grave again. She prayed as she walked past their grave and told them that everything was going to be okay now. Kayla continued to walk with Patrick until they came out of the cemetery. Kayla walked back to the bike and waited for Patrick to join her. She got her helmet on and continued to wait.
So many things have happened in the last few weeks, and it's going to only get better. I should probably ask Raven if those guys are now dead. I don't want anyone else to get hurt because of me, especially Patrick. I mean, if anything happened to Patrick, well I would be dearly hurt. I have to be strong though. Kayla told herself. She looked up at the stars and hoped for the best.

Patrick waited for Kayla to reply to him everything seemed right for him right now and he couldn’t think of a better place for him to be right now. Patrick continued to hug Kayla he smiled back at her things were looking up for him. Patrick followed Kayla as they both walked out of the cemetery, he looked back knowing that he would be back, Patrick smiled at the thought that he now knew where Kayla’s Gran was buried he could come back and visit whenever he wanted to though he thought that he needed to pay a visit to Kayla’s master just to see his true motives for buying Kayla though he knew that Kayla wouldn’t approve of him paying a visit to her master and he wouldn’t tell her that he did but she would find out about the visit.
Patrick walked towards his bike and grabbed his helmet he smiled at Kayla once more and put his helmet on, he watched as Kayla did the same. Patrick swan his leg over the bike and sat down. Looking over at Kayla he waited till she climbed onto his bike as well, turning it on he waited for a moment or two before he drove it towards the road. Patrick turned into the road as he made his way towards downtown. It didn’t take Patrick long to reach his apartment he climbed off and looked around. Patrick turned the engine off and started to walk up the flight of stairs. Patrick stopped for a moment to allow Kayla to catch up. “Well then I should make a start with spaghetti bolognaise.” Patrick explained to Kayla with a wink.

Kayla got onto the bike when Patrick was ready. It was nice being with Patrick again. Things would be getting better and she knew that her Gran was watching both of them. Kayla held onto Patrick as he drove them back to the apartment. It really didn't take that long and Kayla wished it had taken longer. The thrill of riding behind Patrick was addicting. She'd have to ask him to take her on a ride longer than the ones today. When they got back to the apartment Kayla checked her phone to make sure Raven knew where she was. It was going to be a pain if he panicked. Raven was still a mystery to Kayla and she didn't like it, on occasion it made her scared. Kayla followed Patrick back up the stairs as they returned to his apartment. She smiled when Patrick told her he would start making dinner. "If there's anything I can do to help out let me know," Kayla said as she walked in with a wink. She loved being around Patrick, it always was safe around him.
Kayla walked in and sat down on the couch of the living room. She looked around and wondered if Patrick still had any old mementos. "Hey Patrick...do you remember that scrapbook I made for you back in middle school? The one that I told you to look at if you ever needed me." Kayla asked as she looked to the kitchen.

Patrick looked around the kitchen for only a moment as he tried to find the stuff that he needed for the dinner he was about to make for Kayla. Patrick grabbed the pasta and placed it on the bench and walked over to the fridge and took out the mince. Patrick gathered up the ingredients to make the bolognaise sauce. It didn’t take Patrick long before he was putting everything together into the pot and cooking the bolognaise sauce on the stove. “You could get the drinks, glasses are on the top shelf far right Kayla.” Patrick explained she should know by now that he wanted to cook for her and when he started she didn’t have to help. Patrick remembered that last time when he and Kayla’s Gran cook the dish.
Patrick took out the spaghetti out of the packet and into the boiling water on the stove. Patrick always cooked more spaghetti than what was needed. Patrick stirred the spaghetti around in the pot. Dinner would be ready soon maybe ten, fifteen minuets then it would be ready to serve. Walking over to the cupboard on the left he took out two bowls and placed them on the bench, he got the cheese out from the fridge and placed it next to the bowls. Patrick turned back to Kayla as she asked him about the scrapbook. “Yeah I do remember the scrapbook Kayla.” Patrick said.
